The success of the industry depends on a skilled, motivated and engaged workforce, which is why U.S. dairy prioritizes safe, enriching and positive work environments for the people who make dairy possible.
The National Milk Producers Federation FARM Workforce Development (WFD) Program supports farm families and their employees who work year-round to provide excellent animal care and produce high-quality milk. The program equips dairy owners and managers with tools to foster safe, respectful, and thriving work environments.
Developed in collaboration with stakeholders across the dairy value chain, the FARM WFD toolkit includes best-in-class HR and safety manuals, customizable templates, and legal fact sheets. The program also offers a second-party, on-farm evaluation tool designed to help farms assess and strengthen their human resources and safety practices over time.
Expert guidance is critical to the program’s success. The FARM Program’s Workforce Development Task Force – comprised of farmers, cooperative staff, academics, and other subject matter experts – shapes strategy and provides input on content and implementation.
Dairy processors invest in programs to support, develop and grow its workforce. International Dairy Federation Association's Workforce and Leadership Development Initiatives equip dairy processors with the knowledge, tools and talent to develop a stable, connected and well-supported workforce.
